Sushi Kiyono Beverly Hills: Authentic Sushi Without the Attitude
There are restaurants you eat at, and then there are restaurants that feel like home. For me and my family, that place is Sushi Kiyono, tucked quietly on South Beverly Drive in Beverly Hills.
No flash. No hype. No trendy nonsense. Just great sushi, good people, and old-school hospitality that never went out of style.
What Makes Sushi Kiyono Beverly Hills Stand Out
We’ve been bringing our kids to Sushi Kiyono for almost 20 years now, and it’s become a family tradition. My wife and kids love the sushi hereāit’s the real deal. Clean, fresh, perfectly balanced. You can taste the care that goes into every piece. Each roll is crafted with precision, using quality ingredients that speak for themselves.
As for me? I’m not a sushi guy, but I’ve never left disappointed. My go-to is the chicken teriyaki or the spicy chicken tempura paired with their agedashi tofuācrispy on the outside, served with white riceāand their cucumber salad. Sometimes the simplest dishes done right are all you need.
A Family-Owned Tradition Since the 1990s
But what really sets Sushi Kiyono Beverly Hills apart is the story behind it. When Tammy Henken opened the restaurant back in the late 1990s, she was living right around the corner on El Camino Drive. This wasn’t just a business ventureāit was her neighborhood spot, her labor of love. She created a place where people could come in, feel welcome, and eat incredible food made with respect and heart.
Today, Tammy’s cousin runs the day-to-day operations, keeping that same warmth and commitment to quality alive. Tammy still stops by every once in a while, checking in on the place she built. You can feel the family energy the moment you walk ināthe smiles, the familiar faces, the pride in every plate that leaves the kitchen.
As a longtime Beverly Hills resident, I’ve watched restaurants come and go. In a city full of glitz and glamour, Sushi Kiyono is refreshingly real. It’s a true family-owned, family-run restaurant that’s stood the test of time by staying true to its roots and their customers. When you’ve been taking your family somewhere for nearly two decades, that says something. If you want exceptional food in Beverly Hills without the Beverly Hills attitude, this is it.
